Position Highlights

The Software Technology Platform (STP) teams provides stable and agile business critical platform solutions to Information Services Division at ICBC. As part of establishing an enterprise wide technology service capability delivering standardized, robust, and highly resilient integrated solutions we have a challenging opportunity for a Senior Technical Specialist to provide service support and in delivering architected software platform technology solutions for Information Services Applications. In this role you will provide technical advice and support for highly complex solutions and provide project leadership and delivery for multiple projects.

As part of the Software Technology Platform team you will be responsible for:

• Leading and developing technical projects and initiatives;

• Providing advanced-level technical consultation as subject matter expert for implemented technologies and emerging technologies, technical advice and support to IS staff and project teams;

• Cloud and on-premise System Administration, troubleshooting, maintenance ,capacity planning and performance-tuning of ICBC’s software Platform technology environments – such as Oracle Exadata and Databases, SQL Server databases, DB2 Databases, and SAP Netweaver/HANA;

• Initiate and plan for Proof of Concept and Proof of Technologies for future service capabilities;

• Coordination, installation, configuration, testing, and implementation of changes, enhancements on all Software Platforms with database platform solutions including GuideWire ClaimCenter and PolicyCenter, SAP, Driver Licensing applications, Enterprise Data Warehouse and BigData management technologies such as MAPR, Hadoop;

• Technology planning and continual service improvement that enhances customer experience;

• Providing estimates for work efforts, timelines, costs, and hardware sizing;

• Managing software license and compliance tracking ; cloud subscription and usage;

• Reviewing platform system security access and compliance;

• Managing contracted resource work assignments and professional services resources for projects.

This role will include leading project teams and collaborating with IS support groups such as Distributed Server and Storage, Server Cloud Operations, Personal Computing Platforms, Database Administration, SAP Basis, Middleware Platforms, Enterprise Data Management Platforms, IT Security and Information Management.

Position Requirements

To be successful in this challenging position, you have the following qualifications and experience with:

•Leading technical infrastructure project delivery and operational initiatives

•Leading technical design and capacity planning on enterprise software platforms;

•The ability to produce technical requirements, business cases, budgets & criteria for projects and procurement of IT solutions and lead the evaluation of vendor proposals;

•The ability to provide estimates for hardware sizing, resource work efforts, timelines, and costs;

•In-depth and hands-on experience with end to end database technology solutions. Specifically database high availability product knowledge, data replication, data encryption, data security, data archiving and data transport, disaster recovery;

•Proven Enterprise experience with server, storage and network infrastructures: of which includes the following server operating systems – Redhat/Oracle Linux, Windows;

•Proven experience with Oracle and SQL Server database infrastructures including technologies such as Oracle RAC/Grid/ASM,

SQL Server Always on, database encryption

•Ability to multitask, effectively handling multiple competing priorities with tight deadlines and communicating effectively across a broad range of stakeholders; and

•Utilizing strong analytical skills to identify and resolve complex problems in production, development and test environments.

•Proven written and communications skills

Your experience is supported with formal systems training through a technical degree or diploma.
